"Here, we are the masters of ice!"

Comprising 3 ice rinks, the Ice Center at Vaudoise Aréna hosts hockey, figure skating, short track, and broomball training and competitions. In winter, public and school sessions are also available.

Ice technicians play a crucial role in the maintenance and upkeep of the ice surfaces and related equipment. Temperature, thickness, hardness, and flatness are no secrets for these skilled technicians. They operate the ice resurfacing machines, massive six-ton machines that glide over the ice. This task requires dexterity and precision. Observing the elements, feeling the ice evolve throughout the day based on temperature, humidity, and usage, are key skills and expertise developed over time by our "ice masters."

Ice technicians also play a vital role during games at Vaudoise Aréna. They must ensure the ice quality and respond promptly, with calm and precision, to repair any damage caused by incidents that lead to game stoppages. This is where their expertise and professionalism shine for all to see. The smooth running of a match for our resident teams depends on them. Players and coaches know that even the slightest variation in the ice condition can impact the outcome of the competition and the score.

No events or concerts without conversions

In addition to their technical duties, ice technicians are also skilled in repairs, thanks to their mechanical knowledge and tools. A workshop equipped for welding, painting, and locksmithing ensures many tasks are handled in-house, complementing their wide range of skills and services.

These technicians also play a role during arena conversions for shows, such as removing the boards and plexiglass around the rink, retracting seats, converting the KOP into seated areas, protecting and covering the ice, and supervising operations and training subcontractors. When it comes to replacing advertising boards, they are key players in these operations, which are vital for the economic sustainability of the resident teams.

    Sébastien, Ice Technician

"Working at the Ice Center is like diving into the heart of a living spectacle. Every day, I witness the remarkable dedication of young athletes who push themselves to reach their dreams. To preserve this magic, it is our team's responsibility to work behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of every event. Whether it's a hockey competition, a figure skating show, or a concert, energy and emotion are at the core of our work, and I am proud to contribute to these accomplishments."
